Michael and Simon
Robert Michael and Brendan Simon are an award-winning musical team residing in San Francisco, CA. They met in 1998 at California State University, Stanislaus in California's Central Valley, where Robert studied Music and Brendan studied Theatre Arts. The pair formed an instant bond in college and became close friends, but it wasn't until a decade later in 2009 that they started working together on "Torch: A New Musical", inspired by the Greek mythological of Hero and Leander. In February of 2010, a dramatic reading of "Torch" was presented as part of San Francisco Playhouse's New Works Series and was well-received. After more work on the book and music, the show was presented in concert to a sold-out house at the Ashby Stage in Berkeley, CA on February 14, 2011. The one-night event earned the show a Broadway World San Francisco 2011 nomination for "Best Special Theatrical Event". During the same year, Michael and Simon were also selected as the recipients of the Collaborative Grant from the Belle Foundation for Cultural Development, which recognizes excellence in an dedication to the Fine Arts. Currently, Michael and Simon are working on their first album of new musical theatre songs tilted "Undiscovered: The Songs of Michael and Simon", which is scheduled for a Summer 2012 release and which features some of the finest musical theatre talent around. They have also started work on "Turn The Glass", a new musical about love, family and Alzheimer's disease.
